Coast to Coast

November 28, 2017 @ 7:30 pm (19:30) - 9:30 pm (21:30)

$12.00 – $30.00

As part of the many Canada 150 celebrations taking place during 2017, vocal ensemble voces boreales once again puts contemporary choral music at the forefront with a Coast to Coast concert featuring works by present-day Canadian composers.

“At some point, celebrating Canada has to include commemoration of the past, where the country and its peoples came from, its struggles and hardships, as well as remembering those who paved the way for freedom and equality,” says Andrew Gray, the group’s conductor and artistic director. “November’s concert celebrates the richness of our cultureby combining newly created works within the structure of a traditional, commemorative requiem mass.”

This concert will present a creation by Quebec composer Dominique Lafortune, which was commissioned from the Montreal Choral Institute. In addition, you will hear compositions by Jason Noble and Stephanie Martin—some of many rising talents hailing from Newfoundland and Ontario.
Join us at 7:30 pm on November 28 at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel to take part in this special hour of music, celebrating our history in a uniquely Canadian way.
