Join us to see the phoenix finally rising from the ashes and taking flight.

with Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, cello
Architek Percussion

Voces Boreales began rehearsals for Phénix in March 2020, merely a few days before our world changed. After a number of cancellations and postponements, this concert has come to represent the ups and downs that have hit the Arts, musicians and music-lovers. The phoenix reflects the cyclical nature of life, the challenges, the failures and the rewards. By turning to an online webcast of Phenix, Voces is acknowledging the complexity of the moment, the vast expanse of the human experience, and the importance of music in uniting our community.

La Balsamique Montagne, a commissioned piece written by Isaiah Ceccarelli based on a text by Francis Jammes. Having lived all his life in the countryside of southwestern France, without ever settling in Paris like many other artists, Jammes wrote a poetry imbued real, simple, mystical, raw, and sacred beauty.

Also on the program: Phénix, by Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, creation that came about as a direct result of the pandemic lockdown , and Tout est calme dans l’univers by Louis Desjarlais, as well as works by Kilar, Eatock, Ryan and Choinière.
