Choral Workshop - Save the Date - Saturday, September 30, 2023

This choral workshop will examine William Byrd’s and his contemporaries’ music, explicitly referring to its role in developing sacred choral music in Protestant and Catholic rites. Singers will explore a variety of pieces with early music and choral specialist Andrew McAnerney. The workshop will link directly to a concert by SMAM shortly after that in Montreal.
Andrew McAnerney is a versatile and accomplished conductor, singer, and educator raised in the British choral tradition. Andrew studied music at the University of Oxford (Magdalen College) and built his career performing with many of Europe’s finest vocal ensembles, including the world-renowned Tallis Scholars.
Andrew is the Artistic Director of Le Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal (SMAM), The Cantata Singers of Ottawa (CSO) and Director of the Men & Boys choir at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa. Andrew has toured extensively and guest-directed various Canadian choirs and orchestras, including the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Arion Baroque Orchestra, and Elora Singers.
