Synopsis

Voces Boreales once again brings an eclectic and exciting program of international contemporary music, sung in nine languages, to its Montreal audience. As always, the concert includes works by Scandinavian composers such as Jean Sibelius and Edvin Østergaard and Baltic composers such as Eriks Esenvalds.

The program includes a Canadian work by Toronto composer Stephanie Martin as well as one from Mongolian composer Se Enkhbayer (a new addition to Voces Boreales’ list of countries!). In addition, the ensemble will perform the world premiere performance of Lukas Florczak’s setting of Wordsworth’s “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine,” an adaptation of a traditional European madrigal, and the North American premiere of Wendelin Bitzan’s Air Cantata.
